The Brisbane-based e-Health Research Centre has been accepted as a partner of the AMIDA (Augmented Multi-party Interaction with Distant Access) Project, a consortium of 12 international research partners coordinated by the University of Edinburgh (UK) and the IDIAP Research Institute (Switzerland).

The Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB) at The University of Queensland has been awarded $2.7 million in Smart State grants, Deputy Premier Anna Bligh announced today. Professor Mark Ragan from IMB and Dr Anthony Maeder from the e-Health Research Centre will receive $1.9 million to establish the Queensland Facility for Advanced Bioinformatics (QFAB).

31 January 2006 - CSIRO Appoints Data Safety Expert
IT Wire. CSIRO's Preventative Health National Research Flagship has appointed Queensland data safety expert Professor Peter Croll to ensure the security of its innovative technology which allows the linking of diverse health databases. Professor Croll, Director of the Queensland University of Technology's Centre for IT Innovation, is investigating the security and safety aspects relating to the deployment of the CSIRO's innovative Health Data Integration (HDI) technology.
[Professor Croll is undertaking research as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the e-Health Research Centre.]
25 January 2006 - Australian Expert Joins International Semantic Web Group
Australia's role in the development of the Semantic Web was recognised earlier this month when the e-Health Research Centre's Dr David Hansen was accepted as a participant in the Semantic Web for Health Care and Life Sciences Interest Group (HCLSIG), a recently formed World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) interest group that meets in Boston this week for its inaugural meeting.
