08 November 2004 - Plugging the Brain Drain - Turning On the Research Taps

Gary Morgan, CEO of the Centre, today announced the appointment of two more distinguished Australian scientists, Dr David Hansen, a leader in the fast growing field of bioinformatics which deals with the management and analysis of vast biological data collections, and Dr Craig Kennedy, an expert in the implementation of e-health technologies.

A new health information exchange project, using information technology as the link, has the capacity to both improve the long term care of patients with chronic disease and reduce the cost of health care delivery throughout Australia.


19th May 2004 - New research centre to benefit rural patients

ABC Online - The Queensland Development Minister says a new e-Health Research Centre will benefit rural and remote patients. Tony McGrady says new technology means patients from anywhere in Queensland can be medically examined without being flown to Brisbane or any other major hospitals in the State. He says it will save rural patients the trauma and expense of travelling long distances to receive medical help.

18th May 2004 - Monitoring Health from Home

Patients recovering from strokes will be able to monitor their progress at home following the launch of a world-leading research centre in Queensland today. Australian Government Science Minister Peter McGauran today launched the e-Health Research Centre, and congratulated the researchers for the improvement in quality of life that their research is providing patients, particularly in country Australia.
