e-Health Research Centre Receives CSIRO's Prestigious
Go for Growth Award

8 February 2005
Brisbane, Australia

The e-Health Research Centre, the Brisbane-based joint venture between CSIRO and the Queensland Government, was awarded the prestigious Go for Growth Award in this year's CSIRO Awards. The CSIRO Go for Growth Award recognises initiatives that create investment capacity for organisational growth.

"This award re-enforces CSIRO and the Queensland Government's decision to establish the e-Health Research Centre," said CEO Gary Morgan. "The Centre has achieved critical mass in a short period of time and is now making an impact on the treatment of cancer patients."

The CSIRO Go for Growth Award is another milestone for this joint venture which has recently delivered its Health Data Integration™ product to Queensland Health. HDI™ will be used on lung cancer data sets initially to establish indicator reporting for policy/planning purposes, improve patient outcomes through clinicians accessing improved real-time views of their own data and other clinicians' data, and to facilitate further research outcomes.

"It was a great pleasure yesterday to attend the CSIRO Awards and see Gary Morgan accept a Go for Growth award on behalf of the e-Health Research Centre. The award acknowledges the great achievements of Gary, his team at the Centre, and a large number of ICT Centre people who contributed to making the e-HRC a reality, and to its highly successful first year of operations," said Dr Alex Zelinsky, Director of the CSIRO ICT Centre.
