Project Leader, Australian Cancer Grid
Simon McBride is the project leader for an Australian Cancer Grid project involving merging colorectal cancer surveillance databases in Adelaide and Melbourne. Simon also acts in technical and management roles on various other projects including the Health Information Environments, Health Information Systems, Colonoscopy Simulator, Cancer Staging Interpretation System and Care Assessment Platform. Previously Simon was the software architect for the Health Data Integration (HDI) project, which aimed to improve patient treatment and outcomes by integrating distributed heterogeneous data sets while maintaining patient confidentiality and data security.
Before joining CSIRO, Simon spent a number of years working as a software developer at various early stage start-up companies in the United Kingdom along with two stints at the Distributed Systems Technology Centre (DSTC) in research and commercialisation roles. Simon has a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration from Queensland University of Technology and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Computing) from Central Queensland University.
